A naturalist visiting an island in the middle of a large lake observes a species of small bird with three distinct types of beak

s. Those with short, crushing beaks (BB) consume hard shelled nuts, those with long, delicate beaks (bb) pick the seeds from pine cones, and those with intermediate beaks (Bb), consume both types of seeds though they are not as good at either. Assum dominance in a single locus gene. a) Which of the mated pairs below will have the best adapted offspring in a year in which most of the food available is in the form of hard shelled nuts? b) what would be the that this difference in beak morphology is the result of incomplete at would be the phenotypic ratio of the Fi generation resulting from a cross of Bb x bb (Short:Intermediate:Long)? c) How many offspring of an intermediate x short beak cross will have long beaks (assume 4)?

Answer:

a)BB*Bb

b)0:2:2(short: intermediate:long)

c)0

Explanation:

A naturalist visiting an island in the middle of a large lake observes a species of small bird with three distinct types of beaks. Those with short, crushing beaks (BB) consume hard shelled nuts, those with long, delicate beaks (bb) pick the seeds from pine cones, and those with intermediate beaks (Bb), consume both types of seeds though they are not as good at either. Assume that this difference in beak morphology is the result of incomplete dominance in a single locus gene. Which of the mated pairs below will have the best adapted offspring in a year in which most of the food available is in the form of hard shelled nuts? What would be the phenotypic ratio of the F1 generation resulting from a cross of Bb x bb(Short:Intermediate:Long)? How many offspring of an intermediate x short beak cross will have long beaks (assume 4)?

A) since the feed is put into consideration, then the offspring that is best adapted to feed on hard shelled but is to be considered. Cross-linking a gene BB with Bb is the best. If BB is said to be dominant then the offspring are produced will be short beak and intermediate beak in the ratio of 2:2 where both are suitable for feeding on hard shelled but.

B) The phenotypic ratio of the F1 generation (first generation or offspring) between Bb and bb is that there won't be a pure short beak(BB). Therefore 0:2:2 for short: intermediate: long.

C) for the intermediate and short beak crosslinking there won't be a long beak in the first generation when we limit the number offspring to four.

If population remain geographically isolated for thousands of generations, what would happen?
Natali [406]

Answer: They would die, or go insane

Explanation: First off, they need to have a steady food supply to maintain society. If, lets say, the food ran out, then everyone would die as they were isolated and had no other food source. Since the human body needs to have interaction, if a certain group of people were isolated, they would most likely also go insane due to the lack of no other people. Of course, the info you gave was very vague, so I couldn't really give a good answer, so yeah

maxonik [38]
Answer: 4 ml

In this case, the injectable form of enalapril is available as 1.25 mg in 1ml solution.

The patient should be given 5 mg in total for 6 hours.
So, in 1.25 mg of Enalapril is available in 1ml.
Therefore, in 5mg of Enalapril will make (1/1.25) X 5 = 4ml

What does it mean when scientists say that living organisms share a universal genetic code?
Drupady [299]
When scientists say they share a universal genetic code it means that all organisms it can mean either:
-DNA as the main source of hereditary information in all life forms we know of
 or more likely
-that all organisms we know of use a three base pair code for the synthesis of proteins, DNA produces mRNA this mRNA is read three base pairs at a time by a ribosome, this is called the genetic code.
