Answer:

I solve this equation multiplyed by (-1)

x^2-4x+54=0

with quadratic formula

x1= \frac{-b+\sqrt{b^2-4ac} }{2a} and  x2= \frac{-b-\sqrt{b^2-4ac} }{2a}

but b^2 -4ac should be positive to exists square root

and 4^2-4*1*54=16-54=-38 is negative

the equation has not solutions integers or rational numbers

so the solutions are (4+iV38)/2 and (4-iV38)/2

Write the equation of the line that passes through the points (8, -4) and (-2,5).
Sladkaya [172]

Answer:

The equation in the slope-intercept form will be:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the points

  • (8, -4) and (-2, 5)

The slope between two points

m=\frac{5-\left(-4\right)}{-2-8}

m=-\frac{9}{10}

As the point-slope form is

y-y_1=m\left(x-x_1\right)

substituting the values m = -9/10 and (8, -4)

y-\left(-4\right)=-\frac{9}{10}\left(x-8\right)

Writing the line equation in the slope-intercept form

y=mx+b

where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept

so the equation in the slope-intercept form will be:

y-\left(-4\right)=-\frac{9}{10}\left(x-8\right)

y+4=-\frac{9}{10}\left(x-8\right)

subtract 4 from both sides

y+4-4=-\frac{9}{10}\left(x-8\right)-4

y=-\frac{9}{10}x+\frac{16}{5}

Therefore, the equation in the slope-intercept form will be:

y=-\frac{9}{10}x+\frac{16}{5}

A bag of dog food weighs 31 1/4pounds. After one week 3 1/8 pounds of dog food was used. What fraction of the bag of dog food re
Svetlanka [38]

Answer:

The answer is: there is 89.2% of the dog food remaining.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: 31 1/4 lbs of dog food.

In one week - 3 1/8 lbs was used.

To find the amount left, subtract:

31 1/4 - 3  1/8 =

30 5/4 - 3 1/8 =

30 10/8 - 3/8 =

27 7/8 remaining.

To find the percent left, divide:

27 7/8 / 31 1/4 =

27.875 / 31.25 = .892.

Multiply by 100 to get percent:

.892 * 100 = 89.2% remaining.

Hope this helps!! Have an Awesome day!!! :-)

lesya692 [45]

Answer:

58\%

Step-by-step explanation:

First, we need to find how much extra water Nathan drinks.

60-38=22 extra ounces.

To find the percent increase:

\frac{22}{38} =58\% (to the nearest percent)

Hope this helps :)
