It was expanded to include medical decisions and women's rights.

The right to privacy had been expanded through Supreme Courts cases since the 1800's. Griswold and Roe cases expanded the right to privacy to medical decisions and women as their own advocate.

Right to privacy on business decisions and wiretapping had already been settled before Griswold and Rose. The Supreme Court had applied the 9th Amendment (rights not stated will still be protected) to privacy cases. In the Griswold case, the Court stated that contraception was not a government issue and the couple had the right to privacy in making the decision to use or not use contraception. This decision was extended to the right to an abortion with the Roe v. Wade case.
