The scale often used Roman Numerals to measure the intensity of the earthqauke and based it from the damage caused by the earthquake on that specific place.</span>

This scale takes into consideration the damage caused by an earthquake by giving a description of the damage or destruction caused at each intensity level. For example an earthquake with an intensity of V will cause windows or dishes to break. </span>
