Marriage is an alluring idea for many reasons, both personal and practical. A personal reason is to fully express the love that you feel for another person. Marriage demonstrates your love for the person, and builds another solid foundation for the relationship to rest upon. Marriage also is beneficial for a number of legal reasons. Sharing property, belongings, and money becomes much simpler when you are legally bound through marriage. There are also lifesaving reasons to get married. In many ER situations, a patient cannot be operated upon until a legal member of their family is present to give the emergency response workers permission to do so. If you were present with your partner, but you were not legally married to them, you cannot grant the doctors permission to preform a lifesaving operation on them. Carrying on tradition and family heritage is another compelling reason to to married. In today's society, marriage is becoming less and less popular, as the younger generations wishes to opt out of what is seen as an impractical tradition.
