Small wins are small developments in a large and arduous progressive process.

Explanation:

When a process is long and arduous it is broken down into its various constituents and smaller parts. To get through these smaller stages is in a sense to have a small win and it gives the person a sense of optimism in the progress they are making.

The concept of small wins is very important to motivate people who are not ready to take on big tasks that take time which is taken to an extreme  by Keystone in the text by treating mundane habits of life as small wins.
