What must be concluded about a hypothesis if the data from an experiment does not support it?

If the hypothesis is not supported by the results of the experiment then the hypothesis needs to be abandoned or modified.

If the results does not prove the hypothesis then we can alter the process and then carry the experiment or analyze where did he or she go wrong, write in detail about the data and the results and also change the hypothesis after confirming by performing an altered experiment.

All northern elephant seals come from a very small genetic pool. This is because in the 1890s a large number of them were very q
Mashcka [7]

Answer:

b. the bottleneck effect.

Explanation:

The bottleneck effect occurs when a population's size is reduced for at least one generation. This will result in a very reduced genetic variation, which can lead to further adaptation problems.

The Founder effect has its similarities (in terms of the resulting reduced genetic pool) with the bottleneck effect, BUT it occurs when a new colony is started by a few members of the original population.

The Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium is a principle in population genetics that states that the genetic variation in a population will remain constant from one generation to the next IF certain conditions are present (no migration, aleatory mating, among others), so this is not the answer.

Genetic drift (refers to the change in the frequency of an existing gene variant in a population due to random sampling of organisms, so it is not the answer.

Internal and external fertilization both _____. _____ Select one: a. produce single-celled zygotes b. occur only among invertebr
Natali [406]

Answer:

Option-A

Explanation:

Fertilization refers to the fusion of the male and female gamete to form the zygote.

When the fertilization occurs inside the organism through insemination then it is known as the internal fertilization and when it occurs outside the organism like observed in the amphibians when male and female gametes fuse in the water is known as external fertilization.

Both are different type of fertilization but share a similarity that is the formation of a single cell called the zygote which grows into the embryo by the mitotic division. The embryo later develops into the organism.

Thus, Option-A is correct.
