When the woman in “Mirror” sees her reflection, she _____.

In the story,  it's written that she has drowned a young girl. But it's not an actual winning, rather than it convey that the woman usually see a young girl in the reflection but as she got older, she couldn't see the beautiful reflection anymore.
So  i think the most appropriate answer would be : Realized that she must forget the past
