Two- thirds of the world’s illiterate are women because of gender discrimination, more hurdles to social and economic well-being. This is noted in pay gaps, distorted ownership of assets, the discrimination that women should spend more time and energy in family rearing than building a career etc.
Gender equality and women empowerment can correct this dilemma and it can lead to societies’ sustainable development.
