Answer:

The ancient Olympic Games were a celebration that connected to the gods, staged for the first time in Olympia, Greece in 776 BC. Games held for the honor of Zeus.  Olympic games originally had a religious linked with ancient Greek mythology. The Olympic games had a prominent position in the society of the ancient Greeks. Participants from all over the regions came to Greek to compete for games. The Olympic Games held in every four years gave participants to train and compete for games.

Im guessing so they can have fun. There isn't a real answer for this because the person that created the games is no longer alive. But i think they wanted to have fun and they liked to do it. They probably practiced for it like they do today in the Olympics they do right now.<span />
