It is important for the president of the United States to give citizens a sense of purpose and pride because he is the leader of the country. As a good leader, he has to make all citizens feel valued, important and appreciated. By doing so, citizens will feel more committed to working towards the improvement of their communities and societies at large. Moreover, by giving people a sense of pride, he will be able to increase the value that citizens give to their country and their institutions.
