I determined that the answer would be number three. its somewhat like a food chain, it goes on and on and on. In a story an event or events tend to lead up to something, the event causes more and different events in the story. Think if someone asked a Q. about how you got someplace, you might have to tell your story and all the events that lead up to the choices you made and ultimately how you got there.
