Answer:

"The Wedding Gift" by Marlen Suyapa Bodden revolves around the life of a woman named Clarissa and her 'wedding gift' slave from her father. And one of the main themes in this story is that of slavery and how discriminatory or inferior the slaves were treated in the South parts of America.

Explanation:

Marlen Suyapa Bodden's "The Wedding Gift," tells the story of how a woman named Clarissa and her 'wedding gift slave "Sarah" who turned out to be her half-sister, a product of their father's secret sexual affair with his slave Emmeline. This story delves into the issue of slavery in the American South, the positions of slaves and their hardships and the issue of class/ belonging among different races, and also especially on the 'inferiority' of the female gender compared to the males.

One dominant issue in the story is that of slavery. This is seen in the lives, the different lives of the two sisters Clarissa and Sarah. While Clarissa, as a white woman, is an accepted daughter of Allen and have full access to her father's world, Sarah, on the other hand, is just a small slave girl who is passed on like a piece of property. She was given by Allen to Clarissa as a wedding gift, and when her husband divorced her, she remained a part of Clarissa's 'belongings' that she takes along with her wherever her life leads.

Has technology made the 4th amendment irrelevant
gogolik [260]

Answer:

No the 4th ammendment has to do with unreasonable seizes and searches for example when police ask if they can come in your house to seach or if they can search your car. The closest thing i can think of to making the 4th amendment irrelevant is when a cop brings a K9 to sniff your car for drugs and if the dog allerts to drugs they are llegaly allowed to search your car.

What steps can a reader use to figure out unknown words in a story? Check all that apply.
anastassius [24]

Answer:

look around the word to see how it is used

replace the word with a more familiar word

Explanation:

It is common to read a text that has an unknown word, or difficult to understand, which makes it difficult to understand the text. The most common in these cases is for the reader to look for a dictionary that shows the meaning of the reading, but this can disrupt the reading pace. To avoid this, the reader can observe the words that are presented around the unknown word and identify the context that these words present. Through this context, the reader can understand what the meaning of the unknown word is and how it fits into that sentence.

The reader can also replace this unknown word with a similar word that he knows the meaning of. However, be careful with this strategy, as there are many false cognates in the language, which are similar words that have different meanings.
