Which parts of this excerpt from Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl by Harriet Ann Jacobs best reflect the theme that slavery

disrupted marriage and family structures? My lover was an intelligent and religious man.Even if he could have obtained permission to marry me while I was a slave, the marriage would give him no power to protect me from my master. It would have made him miserable to witness the insults I should have been subjected to. And then, if we had children, I knew they must "follow the condition of the mother." What a terrible blight that would be on the heart of a free, intelligent father! For his sake, I felt that I ought not to link his fate with my own unhappy destiny.

The parts of the above excerpt from Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl by Harriet Ann Jacobs that best reflects the theme that slavery disrupted marriage and family structures are:
<span>
1) I was a slave, the marriage would give him no power to protect me from my master</span>
2) <span> And then, if we had children, I knew they must "follow the condition of the mother."

The rights of the master over the slave reigns supreme over the rights of the husband of the slave. "follow the condition of the mother" if the mother is a slave, so will the children be.</span>

Penn commits a tort while acting in the interest of her undisclosed principal. Who is responsible or liable? Principal and agent
sertanlavr [38]

Answer:

Principal Only.

Explanation:

The word 'tort' is borrowed from Latin word 'tortum' which means 'wrong, or injustice.' Thus, the word tort means to cause an injury or harm to someone or someone's property.

Tort is committed in many ways. <u>'Agency Relationship Liability Tort'</u> is the type of tort in which a principal and an agent is required. In such torts, a principal will be held responsible directly in cases when he fails to supervise his agent, when he directly commands his agent to commit tort, or when he neglects to check the background of the agent while hiring.

<u>In the given case, the unnamed principal will be held directly responsible for guiding Penn to commit tort. Because Penn committed tort in the interest of her undisclosed principal</u>.

Thus the correct answer is 'Principal Only.'

Masja [62]

Answer: At the end of Chapter 5, Gatsby is happy and full of hope.

Explanation:

In Chapter 5, Gatsby is finally reunited with Daisy. He has been waiting for this moment for so long. He has spent years staring at the green light at the end of Daisy's dock, and now finally arranges a meeting with her at Nick's house.

Gatsby is anxious before Daisy arrives, but as they spend more and more time together, and their first encounter goes well, Gatsby is convinced that they will end up together.

He is over the moon, and seems to forget that Daisy is married now and has a child. Everything is not as simple as it seems to Gatsby at that moment.
