Replication is intimately linked to cell division in all organisms; both prokaryote and

eukaryote. Cell division in eukaryotes is carried out in the context of the cell cycle.

Unlike prokaryotes which can double under optimal conditions in as little as 20 min the

eukaryotic cell cycle takes some 18 to 24 h to complete.

Prokaryotes: replication occures in the cytoplasm

There is one origin of replication

Eukaryotes: replication occurs in the nucleus

There are multiple origins of replication

Both: DNA is synthesized in a 5’ to 3’ direction

List two ways in which bacteria are important to humans. Briefly explain these ways.
jarptica [38.1K]

One way is that the bacteria that lives in your intestine help you digest. Ususally things in your intestine that the human body can't breaking it down along with the other food. Also meaning that that bacteria also aids in taking in nutrients.

The second way bacteria can also help you get over an illness. The bacteria in your immune system fight the bacteria that is making you sick and gets rid of it.

Which of the following make mechanical obstruction of the intestinal lumen of the small or large bowel an acute emergency?
Julli [10]

Distention from accumulating gas and fluid impede venous return, leading to bowel wall ischemia.

Explanation:

When the bowel lumen is obstructed, the gases and fuids starts accumulating as a repose to the obstruction. The accumulated fluid and gases results in the swelling or enlargement. This will result in the production of electrolytes and water inside the mumen that is in obstruction. The wall of the bowle will also enlarge and becomes swollen.

As more and more fluid and gas gets accumulated in the bowel, the bowel wall will be enlarged and as there is an increase in the pressure due to this accumulation, the fluid starts to leak from the wall. This will enter peritoneum and necrosis. This will result in an acute emergency when it becomes serious.

Fossils can be formed in the mud because
Murljashka [212]

The correct answer is:

Mud can prevent oxygen from reaching the dead organism

Explanation:

Fossils are formed in a whole of separate ways, but most are produced when a plant or creature vanishes in a watery atmosphere and is immersed in mud and silt. Soft tissues immediately disintegrate leaving the hard bones or shells behind. Over time debris builds over the top and solidifies into rock.. and mud prevent the oxygen to reach dead organism.
