How did napolean try to restrict rights and freedoms
Len [333]

One of the ways Napoleon restricted rights and freedom was through press control and deprivation of women's right.

Napoleon's declaration of emperor gave him supreme power with no governmental checks. He took away the peoples' voice in politics, which the people had strived for during the revolution.

The Napoleonic Code was aimed to make the authority of men over their families stronger. It deprived women of any individual rights, and reduced the rights of illegitimate children.

All male citizens were also granted equal rights under the law and the right to religious dissent, but colonial slavery was reintroduced.

Who was Napoleon?

Napoleon Bonaparte also referred to as Napoleon I, was a French military leader and emperor who conquered much of Europe in the early 19th century.

He rapidly rose through the ranks of the military during the French Revolution and eventually became emperor.

Why did Reagan switched party affiliations in the 1950's?
amid [387]
Two very particular issues drove Reagan's political conversion: fiscal policy and anti-communism. In the late 1940s, Reagan was facing the end of his career as a movie actor and was finding less and less work. He was upset because he felt that he had only a short window to maximize his earnings and ensure his future financial security and that the present 90% top marginal rate was unreasonable.
Reagan's experience as a board member and later president of the Screen Actors Guild also moved him politically rightward. In this professional capacity he dealt with a strike by a set builder union backed by communist sympathizers.
