Answer:

Determine the order of any pole, and find the principal part at each pole

Step-by-step explanation:

z cos(z ⁻¹ ) : The only singularity is at 0.

Using the power series expansion of cos(z), you get the Laurent series of cos(z −1 ) about 0. It is an essential singularty. So z cos(z ⁻¹ ) has an essential singularity at 0.

z ⁻² log(z + 1) : The only singularity in the plane with (−∞, −1] removed

is at 0. We have

                              log(z + 1) = z − z ²/ 2 + z ³/ 3

So

z ⁻² log (z + 1) = z ⁻¹ − 1 /2 + z/ 3

So at 0 there is a simple pole with principal part 1/z.

z ⁻¹ (cos(z) − 1) The only singularity is at 0. The power series expansion

of cos(z) − 1 about 0 is z ² /2 − z ⁴ /4, and so the singularity is removable.

    cos(z)

sin(z)(e z−1) The singularities are at the zeroes of sin(z) and of e z − 1,

i.e., at πn and i2πn for integral n. These zeroes are all simple, so for

n ≠ 0 we get simple poles and at z = 0 we get a pole of order 2. For n ≠ 0, the residue of the simple pole at πn is

  lim (z − πn) __cos(z)___ = _cos(πn)__

    z→πn sin(z)(e z − 1) cos(πn)(e nπ − 1) = 1 e nπ − 1

For n ≠ 0, the residue of the simple pole at 2πni is

lim (z − 2πni) __cos(z)__ = __cos(2πni) = −i coth(2πn)

z→2πni sin(z)(e z − 1) sin(2πni)

For the pole of order 2 at z = 0 you can get the principal part by plugging

in power series for the various functions and doing enough of the division to get the z ⁻² and z⁻¹ terms. The principal part is z⁻² − 1/ 2 z ⁻¹

Bella can produce either a combination of 60 silk roses and 80 silk leaves or a combination of 70 silk roses and 55 silk leaves.
Marina CMI [18]

Answer:

25 silk leaves

Step-by-step explanation:

The opportunity cost would be what was normally stopped by doing something else, we have two scenarios:

First stage:

A combination of 60 silk roses and 80 silk leaves

Second stage:

A combination of 70 silk roses and 55 silk leaves

Therefore, comparing the two scenarios, by producing more silk roses, the amount of silk leaves is decreased, by the following amount:

80 silk leaves - 55 silk leaves = 25 silk leaves.

Therefore the opportunity cost is 25 silk leaves

Ray’s weight increased by 11% in the last two years. If he gained 16.5 pounds, what was his weight two years ago?
xz_007 [3.2K]
11% = 16.5
1% = 16.5 / 11
= 1.5
100% = 1.5 * 100
= 150. His weight two years ago was 150 pounds.

Suppose that for a recent admissions class, an Ivy League college received 2,851 applications for early admission. Of this group
masya89 [10]

Answer:

a. P(E) = 1033/ 2851=0.3623

P(R) = 854/2851=0.2995

P(D) = 964/2851=0.3381

P(E ∩ D) = P(E) +P(D)= 0.3623 +0.3381= 0.7004

(d) 0.423 158

Step-by-step explanation:

a. P(E) = 1033/ 2851=0.3623

P(R) = 854/2851=0.2995

P(D) = 964/2851=0.3381

(b) Are events E and D mutually exclusive?

Yes these events are mutually exclusive. If students are deferred they may be admitted later but not early. Mutually Exclusive or disjoint events do not occur at the same time.

P(E ∩ D) = P(E) +P(D)= 0.3623 +0.3381= 0.7004

(c) For the 2,375 students who were admitted, the probability that a randomly selected student was accepted during early admission is

P(E) = 1033/ 2851=0.3623

P(E) + P(D for later admission) =0.3623 + 18%*0.3381

                                                    =0.3623 + 0.0609 = 0.423 158
