A) Give the definition of Cauchy sequence. Then give an example.

Mathematics

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

In mathematics a Cauchy sequence is a sequence whose elements become closer for larger n.

i.e. for a sequence x_1, x_2,...x_n

if |x_n-x_m| for all m,n >n then we call this a cauchy sequence.

eg:

x_1 =1, x_{n+1} =1+\frac{1}{x_n}

This will be of the form

1,2,3/2, 5/3, 8/5, 13/8,.....\\

For large n, the difference between consecutive terms would be very small.

ASAP HELP HIGH POINTS <br> find the value of x.
Westkost [7]

Answer:

x ≈ 4.2 (nearest tenth)

Step-by-step explanation:

The chord of length 4 is the base of an isosceles triangle with height of 3.7 and sides equal to the radius (x).

An isosceles triangle comprises two right triangles, each with:

  • base = 2 units
  • height = 3.7 units
  • hypotenuse = x units

Therefore, to find x use Pythagoras' Theorem:  a² + b² = c²

(where a and b are the legs, and c is the hypotenuse, of a right triangle)

⇒ a² + b² = c²

⇒ 2² + 3.7² = x²

⇒ x² = 17.69

⇒ x = √(17.69)

⇒ x = 4.2 (nearest tenth)

Instructions: Find the missing side lengths. Leave your answers as radicals in simplest form.
serg [7]

Given:

A figure.

To find:

The values of x and y.

Solution:

We know that, in a right angled triangle,

\sin \theta =\dfrac{Perpendicular}{Hypotenuse}

\sin 60^\circ =\dfrac{x}{16}

\dfrac{\sqrt{3}}{2} =\dfrac{x}{16}

Multiply both sides by 16.

\dfrac{\sqrt{3}}{2}\times 16=\dfrac{x}{16}\times 16

8\sqrt{3}=x

And,

\cos \theta =\dfrac{Base}{Hypotenuse}

\cos 60^\circ =\dfrac{y}{16}

\dfrac{1}{2}=\dfrac{y}{16}

Multiply both sides by 16.

\dfrac{16}{2}=y

8=y

Therefore, the missing side lengths are x=8\sqrt{3} and y=8.

What is the equation of the trend line?k+j
Kaylis [27]
Answer: The equation of the trend line is y = -2x + 24.

First, we need to find the slope. The slope is the change in y over the change in x between the points. Our points move down 4 units while moving right 2 units. So our slope would be -4/2 or just -2.

Second, we need to find the y-intercept. We are lucky because the y-intercept can be see clearly in the graph. It is (0, 24).

We can put the slope and y-intercept together to get the equation:
y = -2x + 24.
