Why did congress pass a law to decrease immigration from asia ?
Alex17521 [72]
I believe it was because of fear. At the time, many Asian (Chinese especially) people moved to America in search of a better life. Then, the Gold Rush was a thing because there was a lot of it so any worker was welcome. However, as the gold began to be depleted, foreign laborers were wanted less and less. Eventually, the fear of competition grew so strong that President Chester A. Arthur ratified the Chinese Exclusion Act in 1882, thereby denying them access into America.

Which most accurately evaluates how the Mexican government’s refusal to ratify the Treaties of Velasco impacted the movement tow
Troyanec [42]

The correct answer is A.  It had a little impact. Texas independence came with the defeat of General Santa Anna.

The importance of the treaty was that they established the terms of the end of the war with Mexico. The treaty considered the release of San Anna if he convinced Mexican rulers to accept Texas independence.

But Mexican government did not considered that option because Santa Anna was a prisoner of the U.S. Army, so he had no authority to sign the treaty.

Santa Ana was taken prisoner after being defeated by the U.S. Army in San Jacinto, on April 21, 1836.
