Kendall recently received a job offer which required him to move his house full of furniture across the country from Columbia, S

outh Carolina, to Riverside, California. To manage his moving expenses, Kendall kept track of the amount of gasoline used by the moving truck he rented. The truck used 109 gallons of gas to drive 1,092 miles from Columbia to Des Moines, Iowa. On the next leg of the drive, the truck used 67 gallons of gas to drive 671 miles from Des Moines to Denver, Colorado. Finally, he used 99 gallons of gas to drive 985 miles from Denver to Riverside, California. Using x to represent the number of miles and y to represent the number of gallons, create a table of values to represent this relation.

Distance (in miles)       Amount of fuel (in gallons)
1092                                 109
671                                    67
985                                    99

Relation, x/y = 1092/109 = 10.02
671/67 = 10.2
So, Relation is  x = 10.02y

Hope this helps!

Find the slope of the line that passes through the points (3, 6) and (5, 3).
DanielleElmas [232]

Hello!

To find the slope of the line that passes through the points (3, 6) and (5, 3), we will need to use the slope formula.

Slope formula is \frac{y_{2}-y_{1} }{x_{2}-x_{1}}.

Now, we should assign the given points as x1, y1 or x2, y2. The point (3, 6) can be assigned to x1, y1, and (5, 3) to x2, y2.

Now, substitute the given points into the slope formula.

\frac{3-6}{5-3} =  -\frac{3}{2}

Therefore, the slope of the line is choice A, -3/2.
