how do you identify a pure metal if you have a balance of a graduated cylinder and a table of densities for metals?
sattari [20]
We determine the mass of the metal in grams by weighing it using the balance. Next we obtain the volume of the metal by measuring its displacement with a graduated cylinder and water in the following way: 1.measure amount of water in the graduated cylinder. 2. Place metal into the graduated cylinder 3. Measure the amount of water in the graduated cylinder 4. Subtract step 1 from step 3. The difference is the metal's volume. Once we have found out the mass and the volume then we calculate the density using the formula: Density = Mass/Volume. We then check our answer from the known densities of metals in the table of densities that has been provided and determine the identity and purity of the metal by how close our answer is to the most probable value in the table.

Cystathioninuria can be caused by two different mutations in the enzyme cystathionase. Cystathioninuria caused by mutation 1 can
polet [3.4K]

Answer:

C. The enzyme with mutation 1 has decreased affinity for pyridoxal phosphate, whereas the enzyme with mutation 2 has lost the ability to bind to the substrates.

Explanation:

A coenzyme is an organic cofactor that binds with an enzyme in order to initiate or aid the function of the enzyme. A coenzyme binds to the active site of the enzyme (where the reaction occurs), thereby triggering its activation by modifying protein structure during the reaction. Some examples of coenzymes include Coenzyme A and Adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Pyridoxal phosphate is a coenzyme (it is the active form of vitamin B6) that is required for the function of cystathionase. Moreover, cystathionase is an enzyme that enables cells the synthesis of cysteine from methionine (transsulfuration pathway). The binding of pyridoxal phosphate to the enzyme increases the binding affinity of the enzyme for the substrate, thereby influencing its activity. In this case, it is expected that mutation 1 reduces the binding affinity of the enzyme to the cofactor, and thereby the cofactor is required at a higher concentration to restore normal enzyme activity.

Which part of the brain is responsible for speech?
alexandr1967 [171]

Answer:

<u>C. Broca's Area</u>

Explanation:

Broca’s area is located in the front part of the left hemisphere of your brain. It has an important role in turning your ideas and thoughts into actual spoken words. Broca’s area is the most active Source right before you speak.

Broca’s area also helps to pass the information to another part of your brain called the motor cortex, which controls the movements of your mouth. It’s named after a French doctor, Pierre Paul Broca, who discovered the region of the brain in 1861.

<u>Hope this helps!</u>
