Cognitive flexibility is the ability of mind to switch between tasks and thinking of multiple concepts simultaneously. The cognitive flexibility is a part of the executive functioning and higher order cognition that involves the ability of control in thoughts and includes other aspects of cognition such as inhibition or inhibitory control relating to the prefrontal cortex. The cognitive ability and better inhibitory control are related to fluid intelligence and higher levels of dynamic integration of several brain functions in multiple regions of the brain .

Higher cognitive flexibility and better inhibitory control both demand for higher levels of thoughts.

Answer:

Cognitive flexibility and better inhibitory control are linked to higher levels of dynamic integration of various brain functions into multiple regions of the brain.

Explanation:

Cognitive flexibility is the ability we have to "think outside the box", think of different strategies to reach the same goal. It is a skill we use for everything, including our daily lives. On the other hand, inhibitory control is the ability to inhibit or control impulsive (or automatic) responses and to create replicas using attention and reasoning. These cognitive abilities are two of our executive functions and contribute to anticipation, planning, and goal setting.

These two abilities are linked and acting together as several brain functions are working in multiple regions of the brain at the same time.
