Hydrogen bonding is strongest between cytosine and guanine (d).

Further Explanation:

The bond between the electronegative and hydrogen atom are mainly called hydrogen bond. The electronegative atom can be fluorine, nitrogen and oxygen. These bonds are more stronger than dipole interaction and Vander wall forces but on the other hand they are week from covalent bonding or ionic bonding.

The hydrogen bonds mainly present in water, DNA and protein. DNA is mainly made up of the nucleotides and also contains genetic information in the genes. Every nucleotide is made up of deoxyribose, nitrogenous base, and phosphate group. DNA is composed of four distinct type of nitrogenous base:

  • Cytosine
  • Adenine
  • Guanine
  • Thymine

In DNA helix, the bases: cytosine, adenine, guanine and thymine are linked with the corresponding base through hydrogen bonding. The cytosine pairs with guanine with three hydrogen bonds. On the other hand the thymine pairs with adenine with two hydrogen bonds. Thus, the bonding between guanine and cytosine are stronger because of the higher number of hydrogen bond which provides more strength.

The correct option is D. There are four different nitrogenous bases in DNA molecules; these bases are joined together by different forces including hydrogen bonds. In DNA molecules, there are two hydrogen bonds between adenine and thymine while there are three hydrogen bonds between cytosine and guanine. Thus, the hydrogen bonds between cytosine and guanine is the stronger.

What is the significance of the evolution of hox gene clusters during vertebrate evolution?
zubka84 [21]

Answer:

Explanation:

The hox gene provides a huge amount of important information about evolution. Hox genes duplication made increased morphological complexity possible triggering the formation of neural crest cells and allowed them to disperse throughout the body, forming a variety of structures. They help lay out the basic body forms of many animals including humans, flies and worms.
