How was america's interest and participation in world war i an extension of the same foreign policy rationale behind the governm
amm1812
The reasoning behind the America's involvement in World War I and the Spanish-American War (1898) had some similarities. The most significant one is the fact that it would allow America to spread their political power. During the Spanish-American War, the federal government was focused on a foreign policy of imperialism. Imperialism is when a powerful country or territory controls the social, political, and/or economic aspects of another country or territory. In this case, the US will end up having significant control over Cuba, as they helped to free this territory from the centuries of Spanish misrule.

In World War I, we also tried to expand our political power. By getting involved in European affairs and helping the allied powers to victory, the US was able to expand their views to other countries. This was especially true of president Woodrow Wilson's plans, as his 14 Points focused on establish sovereign democratic countries that were once considered territories of European superpowers.

Amanda [17]

Georgia,

British artist Thomas Addison Richards painted River Plantation (1855-60) from sketches made in Georgia during his travels through the South in the 1840s. Oil on canvas (20 1/4" x 30").

River Plantation

uniquely situated among southern states on the eve of the Civil War (1861-65), played a vital part in the formation of the Confederacy. A geographic lynchpin that linked Atlantic seaboard and Deep South states, the "Empire State" was the second-largest state in area east of the Mississippi River (Virginia was larger until West Virginia broke away in 1861), and the second-largest Deep South state (only Texas was larger). In population, slave and free, Georgia was the largest in the Deep South. Both geographically and demographically, Georgia encompassed as much diversity as any other Confederate state, and these factors had an important impact on how the state experienced the war years and what it contributed to the Southern war effort.
