Answer: Basal/resting metabolism is described as the basic energy that should be present while rest so the proper functioning of body can be maintained.

Explanation: Basal metabolism is the rate of calories that should be present  while the particular person is at rest so that afterwards the functioning of body parts can be normal. This is the important factor for the body to maintain its supportive nature. If the metabolism in the body increases , then there is the increase in the basal metabolism rate as well.

Dihybrid crosses
Darina [25.2K]

Explanation:

The phenotypes and genotypes of the progeny can be determined by a dihybrid cross of the parents.

The heterozygous male will have the genotype 'SSww' and the heterozygous female will have the genotype 'ssWW'.

When crossed, the F1 offsprings will have a hybrid genotype of 'SsWw'. These offsprings are heterozygous with spotted skin and wooly hair.

On self-crossing of the F1 hybrids, we find four different combinations of the alleles- SW, Sw, SW and sw. The probability of getting each of these combinations is 1/4.

Hence, the probability of any dihybrid type is 1 out of the 16 possible genotypes. Using Punnet square, we find

9 SSWW: 3 SSww: 3 ssWW : 1 ssww

This is the phenotypic ratio of the offsprings.

The ratio of the possible genotypes will be 1:2:1:2:4:2:1:2:1.

What does ‘efficiency’ mean in terms of energy converters?
kkurt [141]
In terms of energy converters, efficiency most commonly refers to how much power was lost in the conversion from steam to heat, or from outlet to shone charger. Some systems 'leak' energy, meaning more energy is going out one way than going in the other. The energy source transfers more power than the energy recipient receives. The more efficient the converter, the less power is lost.
