An increase in carbon in the atmosphere would likely be due to increased carbon dioxide gas resulting mainly from the burning of fossil fuels plus deforestation results in global warming. Global warming is causing glaciers to melt including both alpine glaciers like those in BC Canada and also continental glaciers like the ones in say, Greenland and Antarctica. The melting of glaciers will cause a rise in sea levels which can result in low-lying areas like the coast of North Carolina being inundated.

Which of the following is an example of biological weathering?
vaieri [72.5K]
Biological weathering is caused by living organisms, such as microbes, animals, and plants. Water, oxygen, and rocks are nonliving things (though water and rocks may be capable of weathering), and only plant roots fits the definition of biological weathering. So the correct answer for #1 is A.

Frost wedging occurs when the little water content in rock freezes, expanding and forcing the rock apart. Eventually, enough freeze-melt cycles causes the rock to break apart little by little. This is due to ice's density being less than that of water, meaning that it is because water expands when frozen. So the answer to #2 is A.

Which hypothesis mentioned in the book proposes that equatorial regions are poor because tropical diseases have consequences for
Firdavs [7]

Answer:

The answer is the Geography Hypothesis.

Explanation:

The geography hypothesis holds that the differences in prosperity that are found around the world are due in large part to forces of nature, like the differences in geography, climate, and ecology that are evident in different regions of the world. The geography hypothesis emphasizes how the natural environment can explain why some nations are more prosperous than others. In contrast, the institutions hypothesis emphasizes the influences that are made and caused by humans. Human poverty is largely man-made in the institutions view.
