Amount of material =area
area of triangle=1/2 times base tiems ehighte

base=2 and 1/4
height=8 and 1/2
convert all to imporpoert
2 and 1/4=2+1/4=8/4+1/4=9/4
8 and 1/2=8+1/2=16/2+1/2=17/2
so we have
area=1/2 times 9/4 times 17/2
area=(1 times 9 times 17)/(2 times 4 times 2)
area=153/16
area=9 and 9/16

answer is 9 and 9/16 square units of material

What is 4x+7z-x+5-(4z) when combining like terms
Shtirlitz [24]

Answer:

When combining like terms the given expression turned to the simplest form of expression 3(x+z)+5

That is 4x+7z-x+5-(4z)=3(x+z)+5

Step-by-step explanation:

Given expression is 4x+7z-x+5-(4z)

To combining the given expression to solve it as below :

4x+7z-x+5-(4z)

=4x+7z-x+5-4z

=4x-x+7z-4z+5 ( combining the like terms of x and z )

=3x+3z+5 ( here adding the like terms )

=3(x+z)+5 ( taking the common factor )

Therefore 4x+7z-x+5-(4z)=3(x+z)+5

When combining like terms the given expression turned to the simplest form of expression 3(x+z)+5

That is 4x+7z-x+5-(4z)=3(x+z)+5

15. Jim had 103 red and blue marbles. After giving of his blue marbles and 15 of his red marbles
sesenic [268]

This question above is incomplete

Complete Question

Jim had 103 red and blue marbles. After giving 2/5 of his blue marbles and 15 of his red marbles to Samantha, Jim had 3/7 as many red marbles as blue marbles. How many blue marbles did he have originally?

Answer:

70 Blue marbles

Step-by-step explanation:

Let red marbles = R

Blue marbles = B

Step 1

Jim had 103 red and blue marbles.

R + B = 103.......Equation 1

R = 103 - B

Step 2

After giving 2/5 of his blue marbles and 15 of his red marbles to Samantha, Jim had 3/7 as many red marbles as blue marbles

2/5 of B to Samantha

Jim has = B - 2/5B = 3/5B left

He also gave 15 red marbles to Samantha

= R - 15

The ratio of what Jim has left

= Red: Blue

= 3:7

= 3/7

Hence,

R - 15/(3/5)B = 3/7

Cross Multiply

7(R - 15) = 3(3/5B)

7R - 105 = 3(3B/5)

7R - 105 = 9B/5

Cross Multiply

5(7R - 105) = 9B

35R - 525 = 9B............ Equation 2

From Equation 1, we substitute 103 - B for R in Equation 2

35(103 - B) - 525 = 9B

3605 - 35B - 525 = 9B

Collect like terms

3605 - 525 = 9B + 35B

3080 = 44B

B = 3080/44

B = 70

Therefore, Jim originally had 70 Blue marbles.

A grapefruit is 8% heavier than an orange, and an apple is 10% lighter than the orange.By what percentage is the grapefruit heav
shepuryov [24]
To solve this problem you must apply the proccedure shown below:
1. You have that a grapefruit is 8% heavier than an orange and an apple is 10% lighter than the orange. Therefore, let's give a value to the orange as following:
Orange=1 kg
2. Therefore, you have:
Grapefruit=1 kg+(0.08x1 kg)=1.08 kg
Apple=1 kg-(0.1x1 kg)=0.9 kg
3. Therefore, what percentage is the grapefruit heavier than the apple?
%=(0.9/1.08)100-100
%=16.66%
The answer is:16.66%
