Why is filial piety the “source of all virtues” in Confucianism?

Social Studies

Indeed. The correct answer is A because of the following reasons:

- Confucianism always compares a family to society. It considers that just as a father is the head of the family, an Emperor is the head of the State. The mother is like the Empress and the siblings are like the different classes of society. In this manner, not only your close relatives are your brothers (and sisters), your fellow subjects are also your relatives of a much larger family, society. If both the family and society is to function well and be happy and prosperous they need to care and protect one another. Because the model of the immediate family is the model of reference for all the other types of relationships, filial piety occupies a central place not only in Confucianism but in Chinese culture as well.

Which term refers to conflicting roles within the same status?
ehidna [41]

Answer:

role conflict

Explanation:

Role conflicts are situations where work demands, and personal or professional or family needs come to uncompatible terms.

The role conflict is mostly happening since a individual has to act based on different roles within his status(es).

Think of a doctor that is asumed to treat patients because that is his profession, but often finds no time for treating problems at home. Further health issues with his own children may happen rendering him unable to respond to all the demands put on him.

Since he feels divided in his multiple roles we talk about this as uncomfortable situations leading to conflict.

A Role conflict is when incompatible demands are placed upon an individual mostly regarding his job or status (position) while also when roles have different statuses we can then speak of a status strain.

Usually people turns strained because of the many obligations or excesive demands put on them. Causing a energy and time and sources to be split among the different issues.

What is an example of cultural change due to cultural adoption?
Kay [80]

Cultural change due to cultural adoption is explained below.

Explanation:

Cultural adoption is the acquiring of something in a culture, either it is a norm, value, behavior, etc with the passage of time. When something is adopted for a longer time in a culture, it brings about change in that culture. This is called as cultural change.

For example, in agricultural societies, there was a culture of sowing and harvesting the crops manually in the past. But with the new technological advancement in agriculture, people now use modern methods of sowing and harvesting their crops. This is how they adopted the technology in agriculture, and with the passage of time, it became a change in their culture.

This is how cultural adoption leads to cultural change.
