Answer and explanation:

Given : Suppose that P(A) = 0.4 and P(B) is unknown.

To find :

(a) Is it possible that P(A and B) = 0.5? Explain why or why not.

P(A) = 0.4

So, P(A and B) cannot be 0.5 because maximum value of P(A and B) is the lowest of P(A) and P(B).

The range of P(A and B) is 0 to 0.4.

Therefore, P(A and B) cannot be greater than P(A).

(b) Is it possible that P(A and B) = 0.3? Explain why or why not.

Yes, it is possible as P(A and B) = 0.3 < P(A)=0.4

(c) Is it possible that P(A or B) = 0.5? Explain why or why not.

Its is possible that P(A or B) = 0.05,

As P(A or B) can have a least value equal to highest of P(A) and P(B) and maximum value of P(A or B) is 1.

So, P(A or B) can be any value within the range 0.4 to 1.

(d) Is it possible that P(A or B) = 0.3? Explain why or why not.

P(A or B) cannot be 0.3 as the least value of P(A or B) is 0.4.

Angelica uses the point to represent the location of her house and uses the point to represent the location of a gas station. Ea
PilotLPTM [1.2K]
From the graph, angelica's house is represented by the point (4, 3) and the gas station is represented by the point (10, 8).

The distance between two given points in the xy-plane is given by
d= \sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}
where:
(x_1, y_1)=(4, 3) \ and \ (x_2, y_2)=(10, 8)

Thus
d= \sqrt{(10-4)^2+(8-3)^2}  \\ = \sqrt{6^2+5^2} = \sqrt{36+25} \\  = \sqrt{61} =7.81

Therefore, the distance of the gas station from Angelica's house is 7.81 miles.

DanielleElmas [232]
Calculate the circumference and then add the 1 cm overlap:

C = pi*(6.6 cm) + 1 cm = 21.7 cm.

Next, mult this C by the height, 8.8 cm:  Total area is 21.7 cm times 8.8 cm,

Determine the value of x in the diagram.<br> x<br> 2x<br> 2x
ryzh [129]

Answer:

x = 60

Step-by-step explanation:

The sum of exterior angles in a rectangle is equal to 360

so to find the value of x we need to use all given values and write an equation:

x + 2x + x + 2x = 360 add like terms

6x = 360 divide both sides by 6

x = 60
