You see, when the authors want to generate emotional responses in the readers, they usually use figures of length, which highlight and intensify emotional moments within the narrative or the poem. These figures of speech, evidence the emotions in a subjunctive way, but very easy to be recognized. This can affect through metaphors, simile, repetition, imagery among others. See the example below:

"My cry of silence tore through my soul as the tiger's claws tear its helpless prey." In this sentence the author used the figure of speech called metaphor to show the suffering he was going through.
