As he’s finishing his speech, Hamlet says, "Thus conscience does make cowards of us all, and thus the native hue of resolution i
mr_godi [17]

Answer:

This soliloquy of Hamlet is taken from Act III scene i of the play where he gave his famous "To be or not to be" speech.

Explanation:

Taken from Act III scene i of the tragedy play "Hamlet" by William Shakespeare, the plot revolves round the revenge plan of the young prince Hamlet against his uncle and step father Claudius. This speech refers to the human attitude towards death and the fear of actually dying, even though we are all destined to die one day.

Right along the lines of his famous "To be or not to be" soliloquy, the speech shows him faltering in his attempts to commit sui cide. But even though he is referring to the universal fear of saying among men, he is also indirectly referring to his own fear or reluctance to actually go forward with his proposed plan. he wants to avenge his father's murder, and get treated right as he should be. He wants to teach his uncle/ step-father/ king Claudius and his mother Queen Gertrude a lesson but he also knows it is risky and will possibly be disastrous for him too. He is rethinking his decision of doing what he had planned, admitting that "<em>the native hue of resolution  Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,.......  their currents turn awry,  And lose the name of action". </em>

what should a complete and effective summary of a modest proposal include? select three options. a paraphrase of the main ideas
Elanso [62]

Among the options, the three ones that should be included in a complete and effective summary of "A Modest Proposal" are:

A.  A paraphrase of the main ideas in "A Modest Proposal".

C. An explanation of the meaning and purpose of the satire.

E. Some quotations that serve as evidence of swift’s ideas.

<h3>What is a summary?</h3>
  • A summary is a type of text that restate the ideas presented in another text, but with fewer words.
  • A summary must not include its writer's personal opinion about the original text.
  • A summary must also avoid adding any new information, unless it is necessary for the understanding of the original text.

<h3>What should we include in a summary for "Modest Proposal"?</h3>
  • Option A is correct. We must include the main ideas of "A Modest Proposal." That is, as a matter of fact, the purpose of a summary - to restate the main ideas.
  • Option B is incorrect. There is no need to include details about Swift's personal life and career. The summary is of a certain text written by him, not of his biography.
  • Option C is correct. Since understanding the concept of satire is important for the comprehension of the text, its explanation should be included.
  • Option D is incorrect. Remember: The one writing the summary should not include his own opinions.
  • Finally, letter E is correct. A few quotations from the text will function as evidence of Swift's ideas. They will make the summary more solid.
