Heating by radiation is best described by sunlight travels through space without the aid of fluids and solids

Radiation 
is one of the mechanisms of heating. It consists in the emission of energy from a hot body that is carried by electromagnetic waves. This energy can be transferred through the vacuum at the speed of light. To be able to feel the increase in heat from this kind of heat transfer, it is necessary that the emitting body is very hot since there is very little efficiency in the process. We can feel the heat from the Sun because it is at a temperature of 5778 K (5505 °C).
