A sentence with it could be "When they couldn't decide on how representation should be accounted for in the new country, they decided to accept the great compromise as a solution." This was about how states should be represented in the government and with how many members. The number of people was important for the house of representatives, and they decided to have a bicameral structure where one house would always have the same number while the second would vary based on the size of the state.
