The crown is a reocurring symbol that represents power, nobility, ambition,  and greed. In this excerpt, Anthony offered the crown three times to Caesar, and he refused it each time. The crown itself symbolized Caesar's growing popularity, and because he publicly denied it, it caused the people to shout.
