Peer influences can affect you because you may want to fit in, so you do all the "trendy stuff" regardless of your original feelings.

Two examples:
1. Can give you motivation to try harder because others are doing really well.
2. Can give you more reasons to participate. Ex: group activities, friends

Negative influence: not wanting to participate because you’re self-conscious

Positive influence: socialize and get to meet new people
