Mathematics

Answer:

Here.

Step-by-step explanation:

Conversion Ratio (or Unit Factor): While the Metric System simply moves the decimal point to convert between its measurements' prefixes, the English System requires a conversion ratio (or unit factor) to move between measurements. In the Metric System, the prefix itself gives the needed conversion ratio.

I hope this helps! :D

Find the area of the region under the graph of f on [a, b].<br> f(x) = x2 − 8x + 17; [−1, 2]
Harman [31]

Answer:

The area is 42 area units.

Step-by-step explanation:

The area of a function f(x) on an interval [a,b] is given by:

A = \int\limits^a_b {f(x)} \, dx

Applying to this question:

A = \int\limits^-1_2 {x^2 - 8x + 17} \, dx

Then

F(x) = \frac{x^{3}}{3} - 4x^{2} + 17x

A = F(2) - F(-1)

F(2) = frac{2^{3}}{3} - 4*2^{2} + 17*2 = \frac{8}{3} + 18 = \frac{8 + 3*18}{3} = \frac{62}[3}

F(-1) = frac{(-1)^{3}}{3} - 4*(-1)^{2} + 17*(-1) = -\frac{1}{3} - 21 = \frac{-1 - 21*3}{3} = -\frac{64}[3}

A = F(2) - F(-1) = \frac{62}[3} - (-\frac{64}[3}) = \frac{62+64}{3} = 42

The area is 42 area units.

Help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dafna11 [192]

If f(x)= 3x+2 and g(x)= 4x, then

f(x)+g(x) = 3x+2+4x

= 7x+2

For f(g(x)), you work from the inside and work your way out. Another way of thinking is to go from right to left. (Inside/out and right/left are the same simply using different wording).

So what is g(x)? 4x.

Now, you take 4x and plug it into the f(x).

** Math--> English translation:

Look at the f(x) equation. Wherever you see an x in the f(x), replace the x with 4x [because 4x is the g(x)]. Basically, plug the g(x) into f(x).

So:

f(g(x)) becomes

f(4x) becomes

3 (4x)+2 = 12x+2

** Disclaimer: Notation may be inaccurate.

That's your answer. (Usually you leave it as so, but if your instructor wants it factored, then proceed).

As for the third part, I am unsure of a clear answer, so I am unable to provide an answer at the time.

Hope that helped.
