Why is world war 1 often considered a prime example of total war?
Paha777 [63]
World War One, or the Great War, is often considered a prime example of total war for a number of reasons. First off, let us examine what the meaning of "Total War" actually means. Total War can be defined as a war that involves nearly everyone in the countries involved, not just soldiers and politicians. Citizens namely: the old, the weak, children, women, injured, etc. In WW1 women and children were grabbed in the streets and forced to work in factories to assemble and create war machines. Merchant ships were torpedoed and sunk, cities bombed, and set on fire - all in the name of terrorizing the people of the country and waning down their public opinion of the war. Countries in WW1 needed the help of all of their citizens to fight in such a global conflict, so the governments would take over almost all of the industry and redirect it towards the war effort. Lastly, in the case of WW1 by 1915 (a year into the war) no country was attempting to gain land, power, or anything else of that nature. Instead, their sole goal was to survive, which meant the total unconditional destruction and surrender of the opposing side. Therefore, total warfare.

Why did the french establish schools in southeast Asia?
IrinaK [193]

Answer:

To teach young generations of colonized land, that France is their ruler (Probably had propaganda education supporting the French presence in Southeast Asia.)

Explanation:

The French had colonized parts of Southeast Asia known as French Indochina or just Indochina. This consisted of countries; Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. With them ruling over a territory far from its mainland, establishing schools allowed friendly relations with the locals in the colonies. This would allow to implement younger generations to look at France as a friend and true ruler of their land. Obviously this didnt work in the long run, but it was to establish a "Friendly" French presence in Indochina.

Identify each statement as a belief of the Federalists or Anti-Federalists.
tino4ka555 [31]

Federalists are the people who have a belief that the Central union Government should be strong and vested with all powers and authority. They believed that bill of rights were needless as they strongly had a conviction that the constitution must be construed in an ostentatious and elaborate manner.

Anti-federalists supposed that the legislative power must be given to the states. They also claimed for the power to levy taxes and implement laws in economic, political and commercial spheres.

Federalists believed that the strong Central Government can promote and safeguard the unity of the country. It believed in productiveness and an industry based economy.
