As Odysseus returns to his journey, he approaches the island of the sirens. Circe had advised Odysseus to cover his and his men's ears with beeswax. He follows the advice with his men, but decides to ask the crew to tie him to the mast of the ship. Odysseus hears the song from the sirens, and begs to be untied, but his men ignore him, passing the island safely.
