A simile is a comparison of two unlike things using "like" or "as".
For example:
"John was like an eagle, as he quickly spotted the rabbit, and was able to capture it."
Note that the word <em>like</em> was used, and that it compared <em>John</em> with the <em>eagle</em>

The snow cover also shows a downward trend. The melting Arctic might impact not only the people living in the region, but also elsewhere in Europe and beyond.
I'd say that the number of the punctuation error in this sentence is 2, because you don't have to write <em>and </em>there as well.

There are many ways you could change the past, some big and some small. You could kill hitler before the holocaust. You could prevent families from getting on the Titanic. You could tell medical profressionals the cure to diseases that weren't cured at the time. You could set two people up that wouldn't have ended up together otherwise. You could tell your parents a future winning lotto number. You could give someone the idea to invent something that will turn into a multi-million dollar company someday.
