It is bordered in the north by North Africa, on the east by East Africa, on the south by Austral Africa and on the west by the Atlantic ocean and West Africa. This Subregion is dominated by the Congo river and its tributaries that, collectively, occupy a greater basin than any other river, except the amazon.
