On February 5th, 1937, President Franklin D. Roosevelt made the announcement to augment the numbers of judiciaries to the Supreme Court. He wanted to expand it to 15 judges in order to be more efficient, he said. It was known as the Court-packing Plan. Previously, Roosevelt had had problems with his New Deal packages in th Supreme Court, so he wanted more support for the approval of his Bills. Roosevelt wanted to provide full payment retire to judges over 70 years-old, to be substituted by assitants. This way Roosevelt could have the majority but both political parties opposed to the Bill.
