<h2>Species richness </h2>

Explanation:

Resource partitioning is a type of strategy of coexistence among species which allow species to use natural resources in different ways and it may be temporal or spatial

There are two attributes of a community which will tend to lead to lower species richness in a community:

1) Most species are generalists, utilizing a broad spectrum of resources : Species that can live in many different types of environments, and have a varied diet are considered generalists

2) Most species are specialists, utilizing a narrow spectrum of resources: Specialists are those species that require very unique resources, these type of species have a very limited diet or need a specific habitat condition to survive

In Marker Analysis, how are STRs related to alleles? Be sure to define each term (STR and allele) and explain how the two result
Lisa [10]

Answer:

The number of STR repeats is unique and therefore it is considered as an allele of that <em>locus</em>

Explanation:

Short Tandem Repeats (STRs), also known as microsatellites or simple sequence repeats (SSRs), are short DNA sequences with a size of 1-6 nucleotide bases which may be many times repeated in tandem. STRs localize in specific regions of the genome (<em>loci</em>) and therefore they are molecular markers. Gel electrophoresis a technique used to separate DNA fragments based on their size. In consequence, the pattern of STR repeats or 'alleles' obtained by electrophoresis can be used to identify individuals. In a gel electrophoresis, STR markers produce different bands that run more slowly or faster on the gel in different lanes according to their size (e.g., more slowly >> higher size of the STR sequence), and thereby STR alleles are unique and serve to identify individuals.

❖ Mitosis is important for our body because mitosis makes our bodies grow and develop. Without mitosis, we wouldn't grow and our cells wouldn't be repaired or replaced.

What is the sequence of cases on dna strand b from left to right? (See picture)
Bas_tet [7]

Answer:Dna template- 5' ACTCCTGAA 3'

3' TGAGGACTT 5' complementary base

Explanation: Dna consist of a double stranded helix structure. Replication occurs to make extra copies of DNA strand. The DNA strand use to make extra copy is the template strand while the mirror image is the complementary base.

Replication occurs in 5' to 3' direction.

For complementary base in DNA Adenine complement thyamine

Cytosine complement Guanine

i.e A-T

C-G

Hence the complementary base in 3'-5' direction is 3' TGAGGACTT 5'
