Similarities-- The French and the Patriots were both familiar with the terrain and used scouting techniques borrowed form the Indian tribes. Both groups also used sneak attacks to ambush the British.

Differences-- The French used trained military techniques and European fighting rules. They fought in lines, on battlefields. The Patriots used guerrilla techniques, targeting leadership. Being the Patriots were untrained they used unconventional methods and fought as they had against rival Indian tribes.
