On August 2, North Vietnamese torpedo boats attacked an American destroyer in the Gulf of Tonkin. Johnson responded by sending in another destroyer. On August 4, the two destroyers reported that they were under attack. This time, Johnson authorized retaliatory air attacks against North Vietnam. He also asked Congress to pass the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. This resolution declared, “The United States regards as vital to its national interest and to world peace the maintenance of international peace and security in Southeast Asia.” It also gave Johnson the right to “take all necessary measures to repel any armed attack against the forces of the United States and to prevent further aggression.” The House passed the resolution by a unanimous vote; the vote in the Senate was 88 to 2. Johnson’s popularity soared in response to his “restrained” handling of the crisis.

How did the Emperor Meiji help to make japan a unified nation-state
Sati [7]

Emperor Meiji finally achieved to get over the ancient and previous traditions of Shogun Lords, which lasted almost 800 years. With, the Meiji restoration, the country formerly established relations with powers in Europe, the United States, and other parts of the world. This became key "in putting Japan into the scene", in the international community. The ancient practices were not fostered anymore (based on Cultural and social distinctions ). It can be said that the nation had formerly consisted of huge differences to be considered relating what people have as an office, the status they served, etc.

So Japan finally entered the modern world, after a long series of wars that were targeted to maintaining the cultural unity and a policy of isolationism that also resulted in upgrading and incorporating changes in Japan foreign policy and structure of the military.

When did Malcolm's attitude towards whites change?
Solnce55 [7]

Answer:

Malcolm's attitude changed towards whites.

Explanation:

Malcolm X went on a pilgrimage trip to Mecca in 1964. His experience with the whites changed his perception about them. He became a little less hostile towards them.

Malcolm came in contact with many white Muslims in Mecca. They were friendly and helpful towards him and treated him as an equal. So, he began to understand that, opposing to what Elijah Muhammad taught, racial problems were there, more because of the attitude than of color.
