History

The Southern and New England colonies had many differences. They also did not agree on quite a lot, as the Civil War broke them up into the Confederates and the Union. Although they get along today, it wasn't always like that.

The colonies that inhabited New England were sought out primarily for religious freedom. The colonists escaped from Britain's rule in order to be able to have their religious freedom and they colonized in the North. The North was also more industrialized than the South, having factories and more buildings.

The Southern colonies were founded by people that were mostly seeking profit. The South had good soil and hot weather, perfect for growing crops and selling them. Many Southern people lived on plantations where they had slaves working for them to make profit. The South was not industrialized and relied on plantations, slaves, and trading to earn money.
