The correct answer is C) thousands of U.S. deaths.

<em>The statement that was </em><em>not </em><em>true about the conflict against Iraq is "thousands of U.S. deaths."</em>

In August 1990, Iraq invaded Kuwait. Iraq wanted total control supply of oil in the Middle East. The United States reaction was to allie with other 34  nations of the world and bombarded Iraq during the months of January and February 1991. The allied forces basically won the Gulf War with these air raids over strategic places in Iraq. Then, with Operation "Desert Storm", in only four days, the United States Army controlled the situation on the ground.  But the statement that was not true about the conflict against Iraq is that thousands of U.S. deaths occurred during the conflict.

Marat540 [252]

I believe that Congress could declare war, (though states could, ahem, not draft soldiers), could sign treaties and trade agreements

yea, i think that's it, since there are much more weaknesses to the Articles of Confederation than strengths....

What effect did the Homestead Act have on westward expansion?
attashe74 [19]
The Homestead Act was a series of laws that were passed that allowed individuals and families to acquire federal land easily at little to no cost. This created an economic incentive for individuals to move Westward or to inhabit "empty" federal lands that had not been bought or were uncontrolled by other individuals. The goal was to create "homesteads" in uninhabited lands so that the lands would be populated by families and individuals.
