For a solution to exist the x and y values must be equal at that point.

I'll solve both for y first (and there are other ways to do this of course)

2x+4y=1, 4y=1-2x, y=(1-2x)/4

3x-5y=7, -5y=7-3x, y=(3x-7)/5

Since y=y at the solution point we can say:

(1-2x)/4=(3x-7)/5  cross multiplying...

5-10x=12x-28

-22x=-33

x=3/2 or if you prefer 1.5, now we can solve for y using either origianl equation...

2(1.5)+4y=1

3+4y=1

4y=-2

y=-0.5

So the solution is the point (1.5, -0.5)

Which expression is equivalent to (x Superscript one-fourth Baseline y Superscript 16 Baseline) Superscript one-half?
Phantasy [73]

The expression that is equal to (x Superscript one-fourth Baseline y Superscript 16 Baseline) is x Superscript one-eighth Baseline y Superscript 8.

<h3>What is an Expression?</h3>

In mathematics, an expression is defined as a set of numbers, variables, and mathematical operations formed according to rules dependent on the context.

The expression that is equal to (x Superscript one-fourth Baseline y Superscript 16 Baseline) can be found by simplifying the given algebraic equation,

(x^{\frac14}y^{16})^{\frac12}\\\\=x^{(\frac14 \times \frac12)} \times y^{(16 \times \frac12)}\\\\= x^{\frac18}y^{8}

Hence, the expression that is equal to (x Superscript one-fourth Baseline y Superscript 16 Baseline) is x Superscript one-eighth Baseline y Superscript 8.

Suppose you and your 4 friends (5 people) are dressing up as the 6 main characters of the first Avengers movie: Iron Man, Hulk,
Dennis_Churaev [7]

Answer:

720

Step-by-step explanation:

If every person has to choose a different character, the first person to choose a character has 6 options, the second has 5, the third has 4, the fourth has 3, and the last person has only two options. Therefore, the total number of ways you can do this if all 5 people dress up as a different character is:

n=6*5*4*3*2\\n=720

There are 720 ways.

Please help me I need to submit this asap
frez [133]

Answer:

D

Step-by-step explanation:

The average rate of change of f(x) in the closed interval [ a, b ] is

\frac{f(b)-f(a)}{b-a}

Here { a, b ] = [ - 1, 2 ], thus

f(b) = 4 ← from (2, 4 )

f(a) = \frac{1}{2} ← from (- 1, \frac{1}{2} ) , thus

average rate of change = \frac{4-\frac{1}{2} }{2-(-1)} = \frac{\frac{7}{2} }{3} = \frac{7}{6} → D
