In the criminal cases, maximum punishment that district court can award to a convict is the capital punishment.

<u>Explanation:</u>

The supreme court is the highest court of justice. Synonym for these courts include "apex court", "court of last resort", and "final court of appeal". It only accept the case if it finds relevent reasons to be reopened after being the verdict of other courts has been passed. The decisions of supreme court are not subject to further review by any other court.

In Criminal matters, supreme court has the highest authority to punish the guilty by rewarding the sentence to lifetime imprisonment and order to hang.

In difference to supreme court, the powers of district court is limited and the verdict passed in criminal cases are not final. These are the difference in powers of both the bodies.
