At the end of World War 1, the victories Allies countries that defeated Germany met at Versailles, France, in what it is known as the Paris Peace Conference. During the conference that started on January 18, 1919, the victorious conferenced decided that Germany had to pay for the war reparations and all the damage that it had caused during the war. Belgium was one of the neutral countries that would receive a portion of those reparations. In that series of meetings participated the leaders of France, the United States, Italy, and Great Britain.
