Not much of the evidence has been found about the musical culture from ancient civilizations because of the limited music artifacts that have survived. According to the researchers, the ancient musical notation is to be found only in Greece and Mesopotamia, which have been very few. Early music consisted of chants and hymns and later it developed further with musical instruments. Due to the less evidence of written records and musical instrument, it is hard to understand the musical culture of the early period.
